Starting and maintaining healthy locs can be a rewarding journey, but it can also be a challenge if you are not properly informed. Here are some tips to help you start and maintain healthy locs.

Prepare your hair: Before starting your locs, make sure your hair is healthy and well-moisturized. This will ensure that your locs will form and mature properly. If your hair is unhealthy consider waiting a few months so that you can properly treat your hair with a series of pre-shampoo and hot oil treatments to nourish your hair.

Choose the right method: There are several methods for starting locs, including two-strand twists, comb coils, interlocking, braids, and instant locs (crochet method). Choose the method that works best for you and your hair type.

Use the right products: It is important to use products that are specially formulated for locs. These products will help to keep your locs hydrated, nourished, and free of buildup. Avoid using products with sulfates, phthalates, parabens, PEGs, waxes, mineral oils and other toxic chemicals as they can cause buildup and weigh down your locs.

Be patient: Locs take time to form and mature. Be patient and allow your locs to grow at their own pace. Avoid wearing tight styles or manipulating your locs too frequently, as this can cause damage and slow down the maturing process. Your locs thrive when they are simply left alone to flourish.

Properly clean your locs: Regular washing is important to keep your locs clean and healthy. Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo, and avoid over-shampooing, as this can strip your locs of natural oils. Use a Rosewater Mistas a leave-in conditioner to keep your locs hydrated. Apply a light oil to your scalp after your wash to prevent dryness.

Protect your locs at night: Invest in a satin pillowcase or a silk/satin bonnet to protect your locs from friction and breakage.

Regularly look at your locs: Be sure to take a look at your locs at least once a week to remove any debris or lint that is on the surface of your locs. Avoid digging in your locs to get lint and debris out as this will cause thinning for sure!

Seek professional care: If you are unable to care for your locs yourself, consider visiting a licensed loctician for regular maintenance and advice. They can help to keep your locs healthy and provide you with tips and advice for maintaining healthy locs.  However, my recommendation is trying your best to care for your own crown!

By following these tips, you can start and maintain healthy locs that are beautiful, nourished, and free of damage, buildup and lint.  Peace and blessings on your loc journey!

Loc Retwist Bundle

Using the Loc Moisturizer, Rose water and Growth Oil has given next level results. Hair no longer dry since using. It is now shiny, healthy and stays twisted longer.

Excellent products

I love the way these products make my hair look and feel

It appears to be an authentic product. However, it's not for me. My scalp itches with each use.
